Known for its rugged natural beauty, Palmer is the ideal place to make a hometown.

Palmer, Alaska is a small farming town nestled in the heart of the Matanuska-Susitna Valley 42 miles north of Anchorage. Known for its monster root vegetables, midnight sun, and rugged natural beauty, Palmer is the ideal place to make a hometown. This logo concept was deigned with the intent of better representing the towns favorite landmarks and its deep agricultural roots.

“ Palmer is one of my favorite places I've ever lived. The people are vibrant and friendly, and there's really a close community spirit. Downtown is well preserved and well-used, it still retains its colony charm and still continues to grow in positive ways.”

Process

After a period of research, I came to conclude that the best way to represent Palmer visually and symbolically is through the towns water tower, which has always been one of its most recognizable staples. I wanted the design to have the same welcoming and calming feel Palmer emulates itself.
